UNC Center for Endometriosis

Our Minimally Invasive Surgeons at the UNC Center for Endometriosis are experts in both medical and surgical treatment of endometriosis. We are ‘excision surgeons’, meaning we specialize in surgical excision of superficial and deep endometriosis disease. We have extensive experience treating advanced stages of the disease laparoscopically, with thousands of women successfully treated at UNC. Each year, we see approximately 400 new patients with endometriosis alone each year.

Below you can learn more about endometriosis and the specific types of treatment we offer at UNC. Patients living with endometriosis often cope with pain and symptoms that impact their wellness, ability to function and quality of life. We can help develop a treatment plan tailored to you so you can live a happier, more functional life!

UNC Center for Vulvar and Urogenital Pain

Our team specializes in the treatment of multiple causes of acute and chronic pelvic pain. Our patients have symptoms ranging from painful periods, pain with sexual intercourse, or pain in the pelvis, vagina, and vulva.  We use a thorough history and physical exam to develop treatment plans that are tailored to you and your symptoms. We support a multidisciplinary approach to pelvic pain and use a combination of pain education and pain coping strategies, physical therapy, medical management including nerve blocks and surgery. We work with patients to create medication regimens that are effective while minimizing narcotic pain medications and the side effects that go along with them. The goal of this approach is to create long lasting pain improvement, improve function, and return the patient to the activities of daily living. Click here.
