The award was presented at the 2015 American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting.
UNC’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was selected as one of four winners of the 2014 Roy M. Pitkin Award, which each year gives $5,000 unrestricted grants to each department whose faculty, fellows or residents published one of the most outstanding articles in Obstetrics & Gynecology during the past year.
The department received the award for the article “Lifetime Risk of Stress Urinary Incontinence or Pelvic Organ Prolapse Surgery.” Jennifer Wu, MD, MPH, associate professor and interim director of the Division of Pelvic Health, is the lead author of the paper. Articles were reviewed and ranked based on scientific merit, importance to the specialty, study design, methodology, presentation of results, soundness of conclusions and writing style.
Daniel Clarke-Pearson, MD, Robert A. Ross professor and chair of the department, was on hand to accept the award – which recognizes both authors and their departments – May 2 at the 2015 American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting in San Francisco, CA.
