UNC Center for Women's Health Research

UNC Center for Women’s Health Research at UNC is dedicated to learning more about diseases, disorders, and conditions that affect women only, women predominately, and women differently than men.

UNC Fertility Research Studies

UNC Fertility offers several ongoing studies.

UNC Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network

UNC is one of 14 academic health centers that participate in clinical trials devoted to improving the health of women and babies. Major advances in women's health from this prestigious group include the use of progesterone to prevent preterm birth and magnesium to protect the brains of tiny newborns. UNC operates this network in our on-campus clinics, WakeMed Center, Wake County Health Department, Rex Birthing Center and Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville.  Dr. John Thorp is the UNC leader of this work and he can be contacted at thorp@med.unc.edu.

UNC Pelvic Pain Research Center

UNC Pelvic Pain Research Center is a affiliate of the UNC Center for Neurosensory Disorder in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our mission is to equip women, their partners, and healthcare providers with the educational resources to better diagnose, treat and prevent long-term sequelae of persistent pelvic pain. We are conducting foundation-level research focused on understanding the underlying mechanism of persistent pain state in the pelvic region.
