The designation comes from the American College of Nurse-Midwives benchmark program report.
The American College of Nurse Midwives listed UNC Midwives as a 2014 “Best Practice” in two categories in their annual benchmarking report:
- Total number of women who attended their 6-week postpartum visit
- Total number of women breastfeeding at their 6-week postpartum visit.
The purpose of the ACNM Benchmarking Program is to provide members with a platform for monitoring, maintaining and improving the quality of midwifery care and to provide a national snapshot of midwifery quality metrics related to perinatal outcomes in all settings where CNMs/CMs are involved in full scope midwifery care.
