The committee is part of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ efforts to improve the well-being of women across the country.
Dr. Rachel Urrutia, assistant professor in general obstetrics and gynecology at UNC-OBGYN, was selected to serve on the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ multidisciplinary steering committee to update Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Women’s Preventive Services Guidelines.
Dr. Urrutia helped update recommendations for contraception and counseling to prevent sexually transmitted infections, as well as and breast cancer screening recommendations. Dr. Urrutia, also a board-certified preventive medicine physician, was nominated for the role by the The American College of Preventative Medicine.
Her research and professional interests have focused on using women’s reproductive visits as a way to focus on prevention of chronic disease.
