UNC Midwives, anesthesiology and nursing worked to bring nitrous oxide to labor and delivery rooms at N.C. Women’s Hospital in 2013, providing one more way for women to have an individualized birth experience that suits them and their babies. Now, approximately 10% of labor patients opt to use it at some point in their labor.
