Fetal Age Machine Learning Initiative<\/h2>\n

Prenatal ultrasound is fundamental to high-quality obstetric care. It provides essential information to monitor maternal health, assess fetal well-being, and guide <\/span>care <\/span>throughout pregnancy. <\/span>However, m<\/span>illions of women <\/span>have<\/span> limited <\/span>or no local <\/span>access to this vital technology <\/span>and must<\/span> travel long distances for essential ultrasounds<\/span> \u2013 <\/span>creating significant burdens on families, delaying vital care<\/span>,<\/span> and increasing the risk of undetected complications that could jeopardize both maternal and fetal health.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>FAMLI<\/span> app was<\/span> designed to <\/span>make<\/span> reliable ultrasound diagnostics available wherever women receive care. It is designed for health care providers<\/span>, who <\/span>are able to<\/span> collect a series of <\/span>short, standardized sweeps <\/span>in just a few minutes<\/span> using a<\/span> low-cost, FDA-cleared point-of-care ultrasound <\/span>probe<\/span>. <\/span>D<\/span>eep learning models <\/span>embedded w<\/span>ithin the app<\/span> instantly produce critical diagnostic<\/span> result<\/span>s based on these standard sweeps: <\/span>whether a pregnancy is singleton or twin, <\/span>the <\/span>gestational age, fetal presentation, fetal weight, and amniotic fluid volume.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/som-cell>\n

AI-assisted ultrasound has the potential to transform maternal health by changing not only when care begins but also where it can be delivered. With FAMLI, that transformation is already underway.<\/span><\/p>\n

At present, FAMLI is available for research use only. Efforts are underway to obtain clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which will be required before these tools can be introduced into clinical care<\/span> in the U.S<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/som-cell>\n
