The award honors the band\u2019s commitment to bringing attention to gynecologic cancers and raising funds for ovarian, endometrial, cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancer awareness.<\/p>\n<p>John Boggess, M.D., professor of gynecologic oncology, on lead vocals, guitar, and harmonica; and John Soper, M.D., Dr. Catherine Sou-Mei Young\u00a0Professor of Gynecologic Oncology, on guitar, slide guitar, and mandolin, are founding members of the band. They were featured in the documentary <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SDSxmak6Iu4\">No Evidence of Disease<\/a>, <\/em>a feature-length documentary film about the doctors and their mission to raise awareness for gynecological cancer research and funding.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4081\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 160px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/obgyn\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1360\/2023\/08\/Soper_2014-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4081\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/obgyn\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1360\/2023\/08\/Soper_2014-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Dr. John Soper<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The award, presented annually to individuals or groups who have engaged in extraordinary efforts to support women diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer, will be presented at the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sgo50.org\/\">Society of Gynecologic Oncology\u2019s 50<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Meeting<\/a> in Hawaii this coming March.<\/p>\n<p>The FWC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing research, education and awareness about gynecologic cancer risk, prevention, early detection and optimal treatment.
