Stringer, MD, MSc, a maternal-fetal medicine expert with a long career of improving the lives of women across the world, has been promoted to full professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.<\/p>\n<p>Stringer arrived at Carolina \u2013 by way of Lusaka, Zambia \u2013 in 2012 and joined the UNC OB-GYN faculty in 2015 following a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine. She has continued to conduct global research in Zambia and Nicaragua, focusing on issues such as mother-to-child HIV transmission and Zika virus prevention. Her research also includes projects on ultrasound use, postpartum depression and premature births, and improving pregnancy outcomes in developing countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Elizabeth M.
