CHAPEL HILL, N.C. \u2014 Two faculty members in the UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology have been published in Obstetrics & Gynecology<\/em><\/a> (the Green Journal), highlighting impactful research that advances women\u2019s health care in North Carolina and around the world.<\/p>\n

\"\"Andrea Knittel, MD, PhD, FACOG<\/a> \u2014 director of the General Obstetrics and Gynecology Research Fellowship, associate professor in the Division of General Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Midwifery, and medical director for Incarcerated Women\u2019s Health \u2014 authored the study, \u201cPrevalence of Postpartum Permanent Contraception Requests and Fulfillment Among Individuals Experiencing Incarceration and Individuals in the Community.\u201d The study represents the first large-scale analysis of permanent contraception requests in carceral settings, contributing critical insight into reproductive health care access for incarcerated populations. This marks Dr. Knittel\u2019s second publication in the GREEN Journal.<\/a> \"Dr.<\/p>\n

Asha McClurg, MD, MSCR<\/a>, assistant professor in the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, published \u201cReconciling the Literature on Sex-Based Disparities in Reimbursement,\u201d which examines existing research on differences in physician reimbursement and works to clarify inconsistencies in the literature.<\/p>\n

Together, these publications reflect UNC OB\/GYN\u2019s commitment to advancing research that informs equitable, evidence-based care for patients across diverse populations.<\/p>\n
