Global Health Forum: Alan Rosenbaum, MD

September 20, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join the OIA for another monthly Global Health Forum. This month’s presentation will be Alan Rosenbaum, MD presenting “Creating Value: Global Innovations that will Transform Medicine.”

Bio:

Dr. Rosenbaum received his MD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and completed his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ohio State University. He previously has worked on increasing cervical cancer screening access using low-cost HPV tests in El Salvador through the Fulbright program.

Dr. Rosenbaum joins the Global Women’s Health Division as a clinical provider and research fellow whose primary research interest is improving access to health care through novel technologies. His current project involves the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve ultrasound performance in low-resource settings in a project that has been funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The UNC School of Medicine’s Office of International Activities sponsors a monthly OIA GLOBAL HEALTH FORUM that features UNC clinicians, researchers, resident physicians, and scholars through which we hope to build a global health learning community through the SOM; an opportunity for residents to showcase their work and also to involve more faculty with diverse global health interests and expertise and to mix medical student and resident audiences. We hope to have diverse formats – including lectures, resident presentations of scholarly work, journal clubs and case studies.

The OIA GLOBAL HEALTH FORUM takes place every 3rd Thursday of the month from 12:00pm-1:00pm in UNC Hospital Starbucks on UNC campus. For more information, feedback, or to suggest a topic or speaker, please contact the OIA Program Manager, Shay Slifko
