“Big Lessons in Global Health from a Small Country: The Rwanda Experience”
Louise King, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of General Medicine in the Department of Medicine. She joined the UNC faculty in March, 2020 after living in Rwanda from 2003-2019 with her husband Caleb and five children. She and her husband developed a rural clinic in a district hospital and participated in the roll out of the PEPFAR program. She later held joint faculty positions at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the University of Rwanda, training Internal Medicine Residents in a District Hospital. She has been able to continue her interest in HIV at UNC by collaborating with the Infectious Diseases Division to provide primary care to patients living with HIV.
