- IAMAT – The leading provider of reliable and impartial travel health advice. Membership is free.
- Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) – The consortium of Universities for Global Health is committed to building collaborations and exchange of knowledge among interdisciplinary university global health programs working across education, research and service.
- Global Health Education Consortium (GHEC)
- GHEC (formerly IHMEC, and now merged with CUGH) is a consortium of faculty and health care educators dedicated to international health education in U.S. and Canadian medical schools and residency programs. Useful information on funding sources, elective opportunities, international health resources, etc.

- American Medical Student Association (AMSA) International Health – The AMSA global health committee international health website has an enormous amount of information about international health in medical education issues, including resource lists, medical school curricula, funding possibilities, infomation on residencies with international health tracks, and “bringing international health home” ideas. The on-line clinical and research curriculum are also available on this page.
- American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) International Opportunities – Initiative of the AAFP to coordinate/support international health work in AAFP, particularly consultation roles in the development of family medicine internationally (known as the Center for International Health Initiatives or CIHI)
- American Academy of Pediatrics – Organization of over 65,000 pediatricians committed to the optimal physical, mental and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
- Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) – Very active international health committee working on issues of international medical education.
- International Federation of Medical Students’ Association (IFMSA) – One of the world’s oldest and largest student-run organizations. It represents, connects and engages every day with medical students from 135 NMOs in 125 countries around the globe.
- Institute for International Medicine (INMED)– Training center whose mission is to equip healthcare professionals & students to serve forgotten populations.
- Doctors for Global Health – Non-profit, non-affiliated organization working to improve health and human rights world-wide.
- International Medical Volunteer Association – Nonprofit organization that promotes, facilitates, and supports voluntary medical activity through education and information exchange.
Programs & Opportunities
- FOR RESIDENTS: Annual Clinical Tropical Medicine and Traveler’s Health Course held at West Virginia University (WVU) in Morgantown, WV. This course is accredited by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH).
