“Highlights from My Academic Global Oncology Fellowship Training at UNC Project Malawi”

Dr. Kimani is a Kenyan national who has spent a great part of the past decade training and practicing in global health settings. Dr. Kimani’s journey to this point is a testament to his drive, resiliency, and persistency anchored in his passion to be part of the efforts to address health inequities worldwide. His dedication to global oncology arises from his upbringing in Eldoret, Kenya, and has persisted even through his training in graduate global health, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in hematology-oncology at some of the country’s finest academic institutions. He is currently a third-year hematology-oncology fellow at the University of North Carolina embedded in the academic global oncology track. Dr. Kimani’s goal is to become an independent clinician-researcher on cancer survivorship, patient-reported outcomes (PROs), and innovative cancer care delivery in sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on the intersection between HIV and cancer.
