Global Health Forum: Design, Rationale and Preliminary Results- North Indian ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NORIN-STEMI) registry

Sameer Arora, MD

Dr. Sameer Arora finished his medical school from Delhi University, India in 2010 and completed Internal Medicine Residency at Medical College of Georgia at Augusta, Georgia in 2014. He practiced as an internist in an underserved area in North Carolina and simultaneously worked extensively as a research fellow at UNC in the field of cardiovascular research, focused on coronary and valvular heart disease. He is now a joint fellow with the Division of Cardiology and preventive medicine, and a MPH student at UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. His work in studying disparities in cardiovascular care earned him the Triangle Business Journal healthcare hero award, and a finalist spot for the young investigator award at American Heart Association in 2018. He is now actively engaged in global health, and designed the North-Indian ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NORIN-STEMI) last year with an aim to improve heart attack care in India. He was awarded a travel award by the School of Public Health this year for this project, to travel to India and further develop this registry. The design for the registry was recently published and he will be presenting some preliminary results from the registry today.
