Food Drive for Local Refugees

The Refugee Community Partnership (RCP) is hosting a food drive to stock local refugee’s pantries! Join them on Saturday, March 24th from 10 am – 4 pm at the Chapel Hill Community Center to donate and make cards to accompany the food. To honor their heritage, we are asking that items donated be foods these families are accustomed to preparing and eating, including:

-chili pepper

-garlic

-chicken flavor soup base mix

-turmeric powder

-black pepper

-salt

-msg

-pita bread

-pasta

-rice

-dried chick peas

-lentils

-dried fava beans

-Egyptian short grain rice

-olive oil

-ghee

-coarse bulgar

-Haal Magga chicken broth cubes

If you want to donate but can’t make the collection site, they are taking additional donations here. Check out this recent article in the Indy to learn what it’s like to be a refugee in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area and how RCP helps.
