Melissa Culp is Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at RAD-AID International, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity that aims to improve radiology services for underserved populations around the world. Founded in 2008, RAD-AID works with colleagues at 53 institutions in 30 nations around the world and has over 10,000 multidisciplinary volunteers. As a non-state actor in official relations with the World Health Organization and United Nations, RAD-AID promotes sustainable solutions to disparities in healthcare by improving local human capacity development via education and by strengthening local economies.
As Chief Operating Officer, Melissa works with the RAD-AID management team of 50 directors, governmental agencies, professional societies, RAD-AID Chapters at 72 AC-GME academic institutions, and private sector partners to develop emerging RAD-AID programs and implement strategic vision for the organization. Melissa joined the RAD-AID management team in 2013, served previously as Director of the RAD-AID Technologist Program, led the curriculum design for the RAD-AID Certificate of Proficiency in Global Health Radiology, and established the RAD-AID Malawi Program. Additionally, she is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Department of Allied Health Sciences and founder of the UNC RAD-AID Chapter.
Malik Mossa-Basha, MD

Dr. Malik Mossa-Basha is a fourth year radiology resident at the University of North Carolina planning on entering a two-year neuroradiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Mossa-Basha volunteered for the Syrian American Medical Society women’s health mission for Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon in February 2017. During December 2018, he participated in the RAD-AID Malawi Program at Kamuzu Central Hospital with a project for pediatric sonography education. As the Program Manager of RAD-AID Middle East, Malik seeks to provide sustainable health care and radiology services to refugees by training local medical providers in Jordan and other nations. Dr. Mossa-Basha is a past recipient of the UNC School of Medicine’s OIA Resident Travel Scholarship.
John Campbell, MD
Committee Member, RAD-AID Interventional Radiology Program
UNC Radiology Resident, PGY-4
Dr. John Campbell is a third year radiology resident at the University of North Carolina planning on entering a neuroradiology fellowship. As a PGY-2, Dr. Campbell created a curriculum on the FAST ultrasound protocol for consultant and registrar surgeons at Kamuzu Central Hospital. As a PGY-3, Dr. Campbell traveled to Kamuzu Central Hospital and developed a curriculum intervention focusing on sonography with the KCH Department of Pediatrics. As a PGY-5, he will return to KCH to continue his radiology educational interventions to address radiology needs sustainably in Malawi. As Committee Member of the RAD-AID Interventional Radiology Program, John mentors volunteers traveling to RAD-AID IR site programs and provides input on the strategic direction of the RAD-AID IR Program. Dr. Campbell is a past recipient of the UNC School of Medicine’s OIA Resident Travel Scholarship.
