Eligibility:
UNCH resident physicians and fellows applying to the 2-year UNC Office of International Activities Global Health Scholars Program. Trainees must have at least two years of postgraduate training time remaining, be in good professional standing and have the approval of their Program Director to apply. Applicants must commit to traveling internationally for four weeks in duration over the program timeline. Residents are strongly encouraged to apply in January of the PGY1 year to start at the beginning of the subsequent academic year. It is anticipated that completion of requirements will take at least two years.

Timeline:
The Global Health Scholars Program is a longitudinal two-year program. Selection decisions are made by April 1 for a program start date of July 1 of the same year and applicants will be notified via email.

Note: Residents may apply in any postgraduate year, but are strongly encouraged to apply in January of the PGY1 year to start at the beginning of the subsequent academic year. It is anticipated that completion of requirements will take at least two years. Residents interested in applying to either the Global Health Scholars Program or Concentration in Global Health must have the support of their residency director and an identified UNC faculty mentor. (Exceptions to the two year stipulation may be considered on a case by case basis for advanced trainees e.g.- Those who have already completed residency and are in fellowship training or preventive medicine residency).
