How do I manually uninstall Java?

Older/previous versions of Java may still be installed on your computer, even after an update. In most cases we require that you remove old versions of Java (e.g. 1.5) in order to access our network.

  1. From the “Start Menu” open your “Control Panel.”
  2. Select “Add/Remove Programs” or “Programs and Features,” depending on your version of Windows.
  3. In the list of programs, locate the file or files that begin with the title “Java.”
  4. If you have multiple versions listed, select any of the older versions and choose “Uninstall.” Be sure not to remove the most recent version, which you just installed.
