{"id":4178,"date":"2019-10-08T14:16:28","date_gmt":"2019-10-08T18:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/oor\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=4178"},"modified":"2019-10-08T14:16:28","modified_gmt":"2019-10-08T18:16:28","slug":"submission-deadline-school-of-medicine-art-in-science-competition","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/oor\/event\/submission-deadline-school-of-medicine-art-in-science-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Submission Deadline: School of Medicine &#8220;Art in Science&#8221; Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Scientists in the UNC School of Medicine truly embody the UNC Healthcare tagline- \u201c<strong><em>Scientists of Discovery, Artists of Innovation\u201d<\/em>.\u00a0 <\/strong>In celebration of University Research Week (November 4-8), the SOM is soliciting nominations for innovative scientific images that showcase the outstanding biomedical research in the School and the beauty that is reflected in the science.<\/p>\n<p>Each lab in the SOM is eligible to submit <u>one <\/u>scientific image that was taken\/published in the last 18 months and represents the biology that is the focus of the lab.<\/p>\n<p>A submission should include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One original research image (please provide the highest resolution image you have; must be <u>&gt;<\/u> 300dpi at an 8inX8in size or better)<\/li>\n<li>A title and brief description of what the image represents and the underlying biomedical relevance.<\/li>\n<li>The name of the Principal Investigator for the lab and the person(s) who captured the image.\u00a0 The PI must have a primary or joint appointment in the SOM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All submissions must be emailed to <a href=\"mailto:Oor_submissions@med.unc.edu\">Oor_submissions@med.unc.edu<\/a>\u00a0 by <strong><u>October 25, 2019<\/u><\/strong>. \u00a0Please include a link to a one drive or dropbox location if the file size is too large for email.<\/p>\n<p>Images will be chosen for their aesthetic excellence, their scientific or technical interest, and for their universal appeal for both scientists and non-scientists.
