{"id":4987,"date":"2020-11-20T11:52:49","date_gmt":"2020-11-20T16:52:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/oor\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=4987"},"modified":"2020-11-20T11:52:49","modified_gmt":"2020-11-20T16:52:49","slug":"limited-submission-internal-deadline-niehs-outstanding-new-environmental-scientist-award-ones","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/oor\/event\/limited-submission-internal-deadline-niehs-outstanding-new-environmental-scientist-award-ones\/","title":{"rendered":"Limited Submission Internal Deadline: NIEHS Outstanding New Environmental Scientist Award (ONES)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NIEHS has re-issued an RFA [<a href=\"https:\/\/grants.nih.gov\/grants\/guide\/rfa-files\/RFA-ES-21-001.html\">RFA-ES-21-001<\/a>] for the Outstanding New Environmental Scientist Award (ONES).\u00a0 The award uses the R01 mechanism and is intended to identify the most talented Early Stage Investigators (ESIs) who intend to make a long-term commitment to research in the Environmental Health Sciences and assist them in launching an innovative research program focused on the understanding of environmental exposure effects on people\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<p>For most applications, the budget for direct costs are limited to $250,000\/year and an additional $250,000 career enhancement budget that will be distributed over the 5-year project period (see RFA for details).\u00a0 5-6 awards are anticipated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This is a limited award application, and only one candidate from the School of Medicine can apply<\/strong> (Each School or College at UNC is allowed one applicant).<\/p>\n<p>The Dean\u2019s Office will conduct a review of all SOM nominated candidates to select who will be the SOM applicant.\u00a0 Applicants should electronically submit a short (up to a page) description of their proposed research and an NIH biosketch (with grant support and full publication list) to Trisha Dant (<a href=\"mailto:oor_submissions@med.unc.edu?subject=NIEHS%20ONES\">oor_submissions@med.unc.edu<\/a>) by<strong><u> Monday, December 21, 2020<\/u><\/strong>.\u00a0 This will give the review committee time to select the candidate before full proposal is due on February 26, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Please\u00a0distribute\u00a0as applicable to your\u00a0early\u00a0stage faculty and encourage them to consider submitting a proposal.
