The 5 pages does not include the bibliography, cv, budget and 3 letters of recommendation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Title <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Summary of the research<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Introduction, importance of the project, methods and likely presentation results.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>One-half page on the background of the applicant and the special characteristics that he\/she has for implementing the project and career plan.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Bibliography<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A CV in NIH format<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A budget in G.300 R&amp;R Format (aka:<strong> SF 424 R&amp;R Budget)<\/strong>.\u00a0 Please be certain to include budget justification<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Three letters of recommendation are preferred. If letters are not prepared prior to the internal deadline, please provide the names of three referees.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Names of three internal (to UNC) experts who could speak knowledgeably about your research as part of an internal review panel<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>in the event of an internal review. <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Please do not include the names of faculty named on the project, chairs, deans, directors, direct reports or others who have a conflict of interest.<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Please notify all potential internal reviewers and check their availability before submitting the\u00a0application\u00a0packet to ORD.<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Award Information<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funding Amount:<\/strong> The medical school, research institute or academic hospital appointing the scholar will be awarded $200,000 annually for two years to cover their salary, lab costs, and related expenses.\u00a0 Under certain circumstances, the awardee may transfer funding to support their faculty position.\u00a0 Indirect cost of up to 15% of direct costs, may be included in the $200,000.\u00a0 <strong>All applicants are required to provide 75% effort.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Program Description<\/p>\n<p>These awards are given as a transitional post-doctoral award for recipients to enable their advance to a full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor level or higher and\/or to assist in the development of a laboratory program that would lead to independent funding. Scholars will be chosen on the basis of the success in their prior post-doctoral work as well as in the importance and creativity of their continued work.\u00a0The Foundation will select recipients for awards using an objective and nondiscriminatory selection process based upon criteria including a review of each applicant\u2019s scholastic achievements, academic records, scientific proposal and submitted letters of recommendation.<\/p>\n<p>Eligibility<\/p>\n<p>The Warren Alpert Distinguished Scholars program will support individual scientists of exceptional creativity who have an MD or PhD degree (or both) and who have completed a minimum of three years of a post-doctoral fellowship by July 1, 2021, in the field of\u00a0neurosciences and hold a post-doctoral research position at a United States medical school, research institute or academic hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Additional Information<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Warren Alpert Distinguished Scholar Awards Review Board: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>H.
