Read Story Filed Under: Categories: News More from Department of Ophthalmology Residents and faculty from UNC, Duke, Wake Forest and the Medical University of South Carolina gathered at the Miracles in Sight Surgical Skills lab on the UNC campus in March to participate in the Advanced Anterior Segment Surgical Course. Hosted by UNC Ophthalmology faculty member Dr. Ken Cohen, the course offered residents the opportunity to learn and practice eight different surgical skills including corneal suturing. UNC Ophthalmology Chair Don Budenz, M.D., M.P.H., and Chief Resident Chris Hwang, M.D., traveled to Capitol Hill to visit with Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) to advocate for increased funding for the National Institutes of Health and the National Eye Institute. UNC Health Care recognizes physicians for providing outstanding care for their patients. Four members of the UNC Ophthalmology faculty are honored for having 100% of their patients respond that they would “definitely recommend” them.
