Our primary interest is to provide support to the surrounding community for care of patients with refractory uveitis or difficult diagnostic situations. The establishment of a high-quality electrophysiology lab providing full field and multifocal electroretinography will assist in diagnosis and management decisions in such idiopathic conditions as multifocal choroiditis and birdshot chorioretinopathy.
If necessary, we can provide high-level, anti-inflammatory therapies (immunosuppression) with the assistance of the Department of Rheumatology at UNC. Our service is also a participant in the Oculex (sustained-release dexamethasone implant) trial, which can be used for macular edema due to uveitis. Please contact us for further details regarding this study.
