RPB Career Development Award
Sai H. Chavala, MD was recognized in 2012 by Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB), the world’s leading voluntary organization supporting eye research, with a $250,000 Career Development Award to support his research. The support is provided over a four-year period.
The RPB Career Development Award Fund was established in 1990 to attract young physicians and basic scientists to eye research. To date, the program has recruited over 164 vision scientists to research positions in departments of ophthalmology at universities across thecountry.
Using his RPB funding, Dr. Chavala recently led a groundbreaking study to detect Age-Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) Progression.
