Cefalo House Officer Awards<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">Each year, UNC Hospitals selects five department-nominated house staffers with the Cefalo House Officer Award based upon demonstration of exemplary clinical care, professionalism, leadership, and compassionate patient care. Cefalo, Professor Emeritus of Obstetrics and Gynecology and UNC Hospitals\u2019 former Office of Graduate Medical Education Designated Institutional Official (DIO). A<\/span>s a 25-year UNC Hospitals Residency and Fellowship Program Director, Dr. Cefalo served as a model of exemplary leadership and service to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).<\/p>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">UNC Ophthalmology Residency Program Director and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology <strong>Alice Zhang, MD<\/strong>, noted: &#8220;The [Cefalo House Officer Award] is not only one of the highest honors given to UNC Hospitals house staff. It&#8217;s also a remarkable achievement for our department, as Bryce is the first ophthalmology resident to receive this award in over 20 years. All of us who work with Bryce know how dedicated she is to excellent patient care, professionalism, and kindness to everyone around her.
