UNC Eye faculty member O\u2019Rese Knight, MD was recognized by the American Glaucoma Society (AGS) with their Young Clinician Scientist Award.<\/p>\n

Dr. Knight <\/a>was awarded a $40,000 grant for his study entitled \u201cAssessing Ocular Hemodynamic Response to Surgical Intervention in Glaucoma.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

This study is among the first to compare systemic blood pressure to intraocular pressure over a 24 hour period using automated measurements. Dr. Knight is using the Triggerfish lens, which is a novel device that measures changes in eye pressure via a contact lens worn by the patient for 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Dr. Knight and his team are using the latest technology in spectral domain optical coherence tomography to assess how blood flow patterns to the eye differ in normal and glaucomatous patients and in response to surgery.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
