Getting patients back to their lives after injury:

  • Periarticular fractures — breaks that extend into or around a joint
  • Pelvis and acetabular (hip socket) fractures
  • Hip and fragility fractures in older adults, with a focus on rapid surgery and return to independence
  • Fractures that have failed to heal (nonunions) and fractures that healed in the wrong position (malunions)
  • Limb reconstruction techniques, including the use of automated multiplanar external fixation, for bone loss, limb lengthening, and correction of deformity
  • Musculoskeletal infections following injury or prior surgery
  • Care of the severely injured patient with multiple fractures
  • Geriatric hip and fragility fracture systems of care
  • Multiplanar and automated external fixation for deformity correction and distraction osteogenesis
  • Nonunion, malunion, and post-traumatic reconstruction
  • Orthopaedic surgical education, curriculum design, and competency-based assessment
  • Medication effects on fracture healing (opioids, benzodiazepines, GLP-1 agonists, proton pump inhibitors, SSRIs)
