In the latest U.S. News and World Report<\/em> rankings of the 50 top-performing children’s hospitals across the U.S. across 10 pediatric specialties, UNC\u2019s Pediatric Orthopaedics service was named #23 among all pediatric orthopaedic programs. In the 2022-2023 report released mid-June, data analysis and surveys of thousands of pediatric specialists working at 119 children’s hospitals nationwide determined the 50 Best Children’s Hospitals for Orthopedics<\/strong>. Success in outcomes for pediatric orthopaedic treatment of complex fractures, surgical complications, infection prevention and conditions such as scoliosis, spina bifida and sports injuries provided a basis for scoring each hospital.\u00a0 \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The high national rankings of orthopaedics and other pediatric specialties at UNC Hospitals is backed by the high marks that UNC Hospitals affiliates consistently score in U.S. News and World Report<\/em>\u2019s hospital report card. In the 2022-2023 rankings of children\u2019s hospitals by region, North Carolina Children’s Hospital finished strong, tying for 5th place with Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC, among 21 children\u2019s hospitals compared and ranked in the Southeast.<\/p>\n

UNC Pediatric Orthopaedics Division Chief Dr. Anna Vergun stated: \u201cThe Pediatric Orthopedic Division has been providing quality care to the children of North Carolina for decades. Recently ranking 23rd\u00a0in Pediatric Orthopedics out of the top 50 children’s hospitals nationwide is an honor that has been hard-won.<\/p>\n

Several of the major developments within the Department have included the recent installation of EOS imaging, increased collaboration for multi-disciplinary children’s clinics, continued excellence in comprehensive scoliosis care, and dedicated surgical teams and protocols for complex surgery. UNC Orthopaedics Chair and Frank C.
