Research Interests
My research interests are around immune-mediated glomerular diseases and vasculitis. My current studies focus on defining the immunopathological mechanisms involved in autoimmune glomerulonephritis and vasculitis with particular emphasis on understanding the role of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (MPO-ANCA and Pr3-ANCA) in the pathogenesis of glomerular/vascular injury. In the past years, I generated a MPO-ANCA disease mouse model that facilitated the studies of the mechanisms of the ANCA disease. By using this mouse model, I have studied the role of inflammatory cells, cytokines and complements in the pathogenesis of ANCA disease. Recently I have been working on developing a Pr3-ANCA mouse disease model as well. My goal aims to find out potential targets for therapeutic intervention of ANCA glomerulonephritis and vasculitis.
