Benjamin Keepers, B.A.

Graduate Research Assistant

Ben is studying cardiac reprogramming under the advisement of Dr. Li Qian. His projects cover a range of topics and address fundamental questions about cell fate and identity. What are the epigenetic mechanisms of transdifferentiation? What key regulatory elements are employed in the process of transdifferentiation? What can reprogramming biology teach us about the native biology of cells and organisms?

He holds a BA in molecular biology and biochemistry from Rutgers University. He is enrolled in the UNC MD-PhD program, and his long term goal is to become a physician scientist and make significant contributions to both science and medicine.
