Chelsea is a PhD student studying Breast Cancer and DNA repair in the Gupta Lab at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Chelsea is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, and received her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh. Her undergraduate research focused on mutations of unknown significance found in breast and ovarian cancer patients. Chelsea chose UNC because of its collaborative environment, focus on cutting edge cancer research, opportunity to be involved in clinical/translational research, and lifestyle that Chapel Hill offers.
Chelsea was a recipient of a T32 training grant through the Graduate Training Program in Translational Medicine for the 2021-2022 academic year. She is passionate about science communication and serves on the executive team for the NC DNA Day Blog. Outside of science, she enjoys time spent with her family, friends, and dog, reading, and exploring NC.
