I used to think I wanted to go to med school until I got humbled by the chemistry requirements of a pre-med Biology major at UNC. So I started exploring other avenues of science, and landed a research assistant position studying angiogenesis in Dr. Victoria Bautch\u2019s lab the summer after my freshman year. I fell in love with the research process and quietly chaotic (and flexible) day to day life of a researcher. I did my undergrad research project on the role of BMPR2 signaling on the embryonic mouse lung. We won\u2019t mention my experience at Duke\u2026but just know I will always be an avid UNC fan when it comes to that particular sports rivalry. I loved doing research at the EPA on the maternal and developmental impacts of air pollution, and knew I wanted to keep doing research as my career. Decided it was time to complete my PhD to enhance my skills, and have landed in Adam Rosenthal\u2019s lab studying single cell transcriptional heterogeneity in microbial communities.<\/p>\n

Outside of science I am still very much a nerd. I enjoy gaming, music (current obsession is kpop), reading creepypastas, spending time with my lizard, learning about birds and plants, doing photography, and spending time in nature (when it\u2019s NOT hot and there are NOT too many bugs). I am also arguably the best at sleeping and napping\u2014I can regularly fall asleep in less than a minute.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
