Karissa Law is PhD student in the laboratory of Dr. Juliane Nguyen exploring extracellular vesicles as therapeutics. She received a B.S. in biology and psychology from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska before starting a post-baccalaureate research fellowship at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. While at NIAID, Karissa worked on developing lentiviral vector and CRISPR-based gene therapy approaches for treatment of CARD9 deficiency. She is passionate about researching novel therapeutic strategies with the ultimate focus on bench-to-bedside translation to improve lives. Her work in the Nguyen lab aims to characterize the properties and uptake of extracellular vesicles to harness EVs as biocompatible therapeutics or drug delivery systems. Outside of lab, Karissa enjoys baking, playing ping pong, and traveling whenever she can.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
