Certificate Programs Associated with the Pathobiology and Translational Science Graduate Program<\/h2>\n

Certificate programs are non-degree programs within the University of North Carolina Graduate School that offer specialized training in specific subjects. The graduate school offers over 60 certificate <\/span><\/span>programs<\/span> in a variety of disciplines<\/span>, three of which are closely associated with our department:<\/p>\n

Graduate Certificate in Translational Medicine<\/a>. This certificate program was founded in 2006 with a training grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the goal of engaging greater numbers of graduate students in translational research. The Program Director, Dr. William Coleman, Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, is heavily involved in graduate education and has has been integral to this certificate program since its inception. Several of our courses are required for the certificate. Graduate students from across the medical campus who are interested in translational research participate in the program.<\/p>\n

Graduate Certificate in Cardiovascular Science<\/a>. The certificate program in cardiovascular science was established in 2013 to provide UNC Chapel Hill graduate students with an in-depth academic experience in the field of cardiovascular research. The program was established and is directed by Dr. Chris Mack, Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Several of our courses are required for the certificate. Graduate students from across the medical campus who are interested in cardiovascular science participate in the program.<\/p>\n

Graduate Certificate in Technology Commercialization and Entrepreneurship<\/a>. This certificate program is for graduate students interested in the translation of science and technology into commercial products. The program is directed by an alumnus of our graduate program, Dr. Jason Doherty, of the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise and the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. Two of our courses are required for the certificate. Graduate students from across the medical campus who are interested in technology commercialization participate in the program.<\/p>\n
