General Requirements<\/h2>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Environmental Pathology Training Program provides support for the research activities of both predoctoral fellows (Ph.D. students) and for postdoctoral fellows (Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M.). These positions are supported by a grant from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. NIH Institutional National Research Service Awards (NRSA) can only be given to US citizens or permanent residents. Payback provisions of the NRSA program apply to the traineeships.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Predoctoral candidates should apply to the Molecular and Cellular Pathology Graduate Program<\/a> of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine through the University of North Carolina Graduate School’s Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program:<\/span><\/p>\n

Biological & Biomedical Sciences Program at the University of North Carolina<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program (BBSP) is a unified mechanism by which prospective students apply for graduate study in the biological or biomedical sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Students that are interested in any of the biological and biomedical sciences research areas (including pathobiology, mechansims of disease, and pathology) apply to the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program and are admitted to UNC with no formal commitment to any specific Ph.D. program. After completing their first year of study, students leave the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program and matriculate into one of the participating Ph.D. programs (including Molecular and Cellular Pathology), after selecting a dissertation research laboratory and faculty preceptor.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Application for a postdoctoral position in the Environmental Pathology Training Program requires: (1) a formal letter of application; (2) a short statement (one-page) of your past research experience, your plans for research training, and your future career; (3) a transcript of your graduate school grades, and (4) three letters of recommendation from scientists familiar with your research or graduate school training (including your dissertation advisor).<\/p>\n
