Hosted by the Women\u2019s Health Multidisciplinary Consortium (WHMC) and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, <span data-contrast=\"auto\">this symposium will create a platform for early-career researchers and medical professionals from various disciplines to\u00a0showcase\u00a0their work, engage in meaningful discussions, and\u00a0establish\u00a0professional networks that will advance the field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme, <em>Collaborate, Innovate, &amp; Unite<\/em>, reflects UNC\u2019s growing momentum in women\u2019s health research. The symposium will provide a dynamic platform for early\u2011career researchers from diverse disciplines to showcase their work, engage in meaningful dialogue, and form collaborative networks that will shape the future of women\u2019s health research at UNC.<\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">We are extremely grateful for our partners for their dedication to creating a truly campus-wide and interdisciplinary forum to highlight women\u2019s health research at UNC:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>TIBBS<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>UNC Department of Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Center for Women&#8217;s Health Research<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Center for Women&#8217;s Mood Disorders<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Carolina Women&#8217;s Center<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Carolina Population Center<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Department of Maternal and Child Health, Gillings School of Global Public Health<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Registration &amp; Abstract Submission<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/apps2.research.unc.edu\/events\/index.cfm?event=events.go&amp;key=CDBA\"><strong>Register online to attend!<\/strong> <\/a>Registration is free for all UNC staff, students, and faculty.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Women\u2019s Health Multidisciplinary Research Symposium\u00a0welcomes\u00a0abstract submissions from graduate level researchers, medical students, post\u00a0docs, medical fellows, and any other early\u00a0career professionals. <\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/unc.az1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_bxCHQqWkxY4ntR4\">Abstract Submission Form.<\/a> Deadline June 30th, 2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center\"><em><u>Abstract Guidelines:<\/u> The abstract should convey 1) appropriate background\/context and goal of your research, 2) the approach or method(s) used, 3) the key results, and 4) why this is impactful. 300 words max.<\/em><\/h5>\n<h3><strong>Program Agenda<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Opening Remarks &#8211; Russell Broaddus, MD, PhD<\/p>\n<p>Keynote Speakers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Samantha Meltzer-Brody, MD, MPH &#8211; Executive Dean of the UNC School of Medicine\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Meltzer-Brody is also an internationally recognized physician-scientist in perinatal depression. Her research has investigated the epidemiologic and biological predictors of perinatal depression and innovative treatment approaches. She also served as Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, where she also directed the UNC Center for Women\u2019s Mood Disorders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Crystal Schiller, PhD &#8211; Director of Center for Women&#8217;s Mood Disorders; Department of Psychiatry, Associate Vice Chair for Research\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Schiller&#8217;s research investigates how changes in ovarian steroid hormones contribute to depression and anxiety across the reproductive lifespan\u2014from puberty through the menopause transition.
