DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with the SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective and the Center for Health Equity Research at UNC\, the Women’s Health Multidisciplinary Consortium cordially invites you to join us for Reproductive Justice Week at UNC. Together\, we are hosting three events that will provide a broad view of reproductive justice and reproductive health. \n  \nWHMC Seminar Event:  \n  \nThursday\, November 3rd  12-1pm \nSeminar on Reproductive Justice Work at UNC \n​This is part of the monthly Women’s Health Research Seminar Hot Topic Series presented by the WHMC. All are welcome to attend! \n  \nSpeakers and Talk Titles: \nDr. Kavita Arora: “Equitable Postpartum Permanent Contraception.”\nDr. Abigail English: “Reproductive Health\, Rights\, and Justice for Adolescents and Young Adults in a Post-Roe Era.” \nDr. Kristin Tully: “Respectful\, Equitable\, and Supportive Postpartum Care” \n  \nALL ARE WELCOME. To attend the SisterSong-led workshops\, please register using the this link: go.unc.edu/LetsTalkRJ. To ensure there is enough space for everyone\, please register ASAP to reserve your spot. \n \nReproductive Justice Week Events with SisterSong and CHER:  \n  \nWednesday November 2nd 3-5:30pm: \nSisterSong Workshop: “What is Reproductive Justice: An interactive workshop presented by SisterSong about the history\, practice\, and advocacy of reproductive justice for Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color.” \nThis is a didactic course with Q&A included. The educational event will be in-person and led by SisterSong. \n  \nThursday November 3rd  3-5:30pm: \nSisterSong Discussion Panel:  “An informal panel discussion with birthing\, post-partum\, and abortion doulas working with diverse populations” \nThis panel is focused on person-centered reproductive health advocacy. The panel will include a diverse group of 4 doulas that support incarcerated women\, LGBTQ individuals\, abortion care\, labor\, and delivery. \nIn-person event only and led by SisterSong. \n  \n  \nThank you for your continued support of women’s health at UNC. DESCRIPTION:The Women’s Health Multidisciplinary Consortium cordially invites you to join us at this month’s Hot Topic Seminar\, titled “Love Shouldn’t Hurt: Consequences of Intimate Partner Violence.” This seminar is on October 18th from 3-4pm at Bondurant G100 and on Zoom and is held in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month\, with the goal of highlighting current UNC research on interpersonal violence. \n  \nOur fantastic speakers are: \n  \nJohna Register-Mihalik\, PhD\, LAT\, ATC  \nAssociate Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science\, Core Faculty with Matthew Gfeller Center and the Injury Prevention Research Center \n  \nTalk Title: “Implications of Traumatic Brain Injury: What Sometimes Seems ‘Invisible’ Can Be Life Altering” \n  \nand   \n  \nShabbar Ranapurwala\, PhD\, MPH\, BHMS \nAssociate Professor in Epidemiology\, Core Faculty with the Injury Prevention Research Center \n  \nTalk Title: “Saving Time and Delivering Justice: Evaluations of E-Filling of Domestic Violence Protective Orders in NC” \n  \n  \nThis event will be a hybrid seminar at Bondurant G100 and on Zoom (information below)\, though in-person attendance is encouraged for robust discussion and a chance to meet others who work in women’s health.
