\u00a0<\/span>The UNC Hospitals Molecular Genetics Laboratory provides outstanding, patient-centered diagnostic services in germline and somatic molecular genetics, with expertise in inherited disorders, hematologic malignancies, and solid tumors. Our team performs molecular testing technologies, including next-generation sequencing, PCR-based testing, and targeted genotyping to deliver high-quality, clinically actionable results in support of precision medicine. The laboratory collaborates closely with clinical genetics, oncology, hematopathology, and other specialties, serving as an essential partner in multidisciplinary patient care.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Training future leaders in molecular diagnostics is at the heart of what we do. In addition to supporting resident and medical student education, we provide hands-on training and case-based learning for Pathology residents and fellows in Molecular Genetic Pathology and Laboratory Genetics and Genomics. Trainees gain experience with a diverse case mix, cutting-edge molecular platforms, and the complexities of test development, validation, and result interpretation.
