The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is pleased to announce that Dr. Siobhan O\u2019Connor has been named the Residency Program Director, effective December 1, 2024. A valued faculty member since 2010, Dr. O\u2019Connor has served as Director of Cytopathology since 2015 and previously led the Cytopathology Fellowship as Program Director from 2018 to 2021. Her extensive leadership experience in medical education and patient care will be instrumental in overseeing the residency program, comprised of 17 residents currently.<\/p>\n

Dr. O\u2019Connor earned her medical degree from UNC Chapel Hill. She then completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Louisville, followed by a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh, where she also pursued a fellowship in Gynecologic and Breast Pathology. She then completed a Cytopathology fellowship at the University of Virginia before joining the UNC faculty.<\/p>\n
