The UNC Health Privacy Office provides a full suite of information privacy compliance services for the benefit of the UNC Health community<\/a>, including the UNC School of Medicine (UNC SOM). The services provided by our office are offered to ensure the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) created, stored, transmitted, archived and destroyed across UNC Health in accordance with the UNC Health HIPAA policies.<\/p>\n

Our office is routinely engaged in various information privacy compliance activities for the benefit of the UNC Health community that include:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Training and education;<\/li>\n
  2. Policy development;<\/li>\n
  3. Auditing and monitoring, including auditing of workforce access to the UNC Health electronic health record;<\/li>\n
  4. Privacy incident investigations; and<\/li>\n
  5. Outreach and consultation on a variety of privacy issues from use and disclosure questions to more complex data sharing arrangements with third parties.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
