APS 402-48

The course is a selective for fourth year medical students and focuses on the care of patients with advanced disease. The course offers didactic sessions on pain and symptom management; and communication with patients and families. Students receive clinical experience on an inpatient palliative care consult service, and an outpatient hospice service . Students may also choose elective rotations with the anesthesia pain service, the supportive care consult service, or the surgical intensive care unit.
