PRESENTER:
MJ Steele, MD
TITLE:
“Caring for the Dead in a Death Avoidant Society: A Practical Guide”
BIO:
MJ Steele is a current Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellow in the pediatric track. She is a Hoosier who completed her medical school at Indiana University followed by a pediatric residency at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Having spent the past year learning about the care of both seriously ill children and adults in fellowship, MJ is excited to be taking a job with Transitions LifeCare in July, both working on the Kids hospice and palliative team and working in adult community hospice. Building upon a variety of experiences, including a month spent at a coroner’s office, time with Decedent Care, cases during fellowship, and a wide variety of book choices, she is looking forward to presenting this talk, which is aimed at being a thoughtful yet informational tool to caring for the deceased. When not working or discussing such light party topics, MJ can be found hiking, reading any manner of books, cooking/eating, or attempting to keep indoor plants alive.
