Congratulations to Zachary Willis, MD, MPH, on his recent election to a 2-year term on the Medical Staff Executive Committee (MSEC).
Dr. Willis is an Associate Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Willis has been a UNC faculty member since 2016. He has a particular interest in studying antibacterial resistance and is the Director of the Pediatric Antimicrobial Stewardship Program.
The Medical Staff Executive Committee (MSEC) consists of the Medical Staff officers, department chairs, Chief Nursing Officer, deans of the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry, President of the House Staff Council, President of UNC Faculty Physicians, and President of UNC Hospitals. Acting on behalf of the Medical Staff, the MSEC addresses issues related to all aspects of medical practice. The committee receives reports on hospital operations, graduate medical education (GME), and nursing, and reviews recommendations from Medical Staff committees and hospital departments.
The MSEC is also responsible for making recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding Medical Staff rules and regulations, credentialing and clinical privileges processes, and performance improvement activities.
