Bianca Allison MD MPH<\/strong> is a practicing teen-focused primary care pediatrician and health services researcher at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, specializing in adolescent and young adult health. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Anthropology from Harvard University, a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School, and a Master of Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Allison completed her pediatrics residency and NRSA Primary Care Research fellowship<\/a> at UNC, where she now serves as an Associate Professor in the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.<\/p>\n Her research focuses on improving sexual and reproductive health service delivery for all adolescents. Dr. Allison has led numerous projects, including community-based participatory research, intervention development, and quality improvement initiatives, to enhance healthcare delivery. She has published extensively in prestigious journals such as JAMA Pediatrics,<\/em> the<\/em>\u00a0American Journal or Obstetrics and Gynecology,<\/em> Pediatrics, <\/em>the <\/em>Journal of Adolescent Health, <\/em>and Contraception<\/em>. Dr. Allison has won several honors within the UNC School of Medicine including the prestigious Jefferson-Pilot Fellowship in Academic Medicine<\/a>, the UNC Office of the Provost’s Junior Faculty Development Award<\/a>, and the Academy of Educators Educational Research Mentor Award<\/a>. She prides herself on being a present and supportive mentor for all levels of trainees from high school students, undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral students, and junior faculty.<\/p>\n Dr. Allison has many interdisciplinary collaborations across UNC and beyond. She is an expert advisor for Teen Health Research<\/a> (lead by Dr. Laura Widman<\/a>), supports the expansion of use of SARHAchat<\/a> with adolescents (lead by Dr. Kandyce Brennan<\/a>), and is a member of the North Carolina Pharmacist-Initiated Contraception Advisory Committee lead by Dr. Mollie Scott<\/a> (find a birth control pharmacy here<\/a>). In addition to her research and teaching, Dr. Allison is an active member of several professional organizations, including Youth Reproductive Equity<\/a>, the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, and the Society of Family Planning (where she was awarded the Changemakers Award<\/a>).
