Research

Dr. Patterson’s research expertise is in technology-based interventions to reduce perinatal mortality in low and lower-middle income countries. Her research emphasis is on newborn resuscitation at birth, with her primary work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Her work investigates strategies to improve clinical performance of basic resuscitation through real-time guidance and debriefing with innovative mobile health technology. She is also a co-investigator for the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Global Network with the Kinshasa School of Public Health-UNC Research Partnership.
