Amy Elizabeth Levenson, MD Attending Physician; Associate Professor of Pediatrics; Program Director for Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship

We are delighted that you are considering our Division at the N.C. Children’s Hospital for your training in pediatric endocrinology! We offer trainees a wide range of clinical experiences within a vibrant, diverse patient population. Our curriculum includes allocation of significant protected time and superb mentorship for research projects and required scholarly work.

In 2020, our division ranked 13th in the US and number 1 in the Southeast by the U.S. News and World Report. We are a referral practice that provides care for all pediatric endocrine problems, in addition to offering several subspecialized clinics for patients with diabetes, Turner syndrome, bone disorders, disorders of sexual development, gender wellness, lipid disorders, and obesity comorbidities. These clinics are directed by experts in the field and provide in-depth learning opportunities for our fellows.

Our trainees are exposed to a full range of academic options to foster their career. As such, our curriculum includes significant committed time for academic endeavors. Diverse research opportunities and outstanding mentorship are abundant at UNC. Our faculty members are involved in basic science and clinical research, with several clinical trials underway. These opportunities provide a rich training environment that fosters the development of leading physician researchers and academic clinicians within our field.

Our program offers academic lectures during training, including topic presentations, journal clubs, lectures from guest speakers, and board review. Our program has a close relationship with the UNC adult endocrine division, as well as a strong connection with other regional pediatric endocrine programs. This network provides an unparalleled alliance for clinical exposure, learning, and research collaborations.

Offering a rich fellowship experience is vital to the goals of our division. We seek to train well-rounded Pediatric Endocrinologists who will become the leaders in clinical care, research and education in the future.

We look forward to sharing more about our program with you!
