Diversity and Inclusion are important words to the School of Medicine and the Department. Words that we try to live by and put into action. We want the faces of our faculty, staff, and learners to look like those of North Carolina. We have a strong belief that diversity will make us better and shape our future. The School of Medicine has a new Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (Dr. Nate Thomas) with many new initiatives coming down the pike. We have a monthly diversity newsletter, an active Diversity and Inclusion Committee (made up of faculty, residents, and staff), town hall meetings around various diversity topics, and diversity representation on all search committees just to name a few active programs. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to Stuart Gold, Vice Chair Pediatrics for Diversity and Patient Engagement at stuart_gold@med.unc.edu.
