Health Equity
The Internal Medicine Residency and Pediatrics Residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill/UNC Health Care is proud to care for a diverse population at each of our teaching sites which includes underrepresented minorities, transgender youth, immigrants and refugees from all over the world. We are committed to providing excellent care for all of our patients and their families.
We define underrepresented in medicine as any racial, ethnic, religious, socioeconomic, or ability status group whose numbers in medicine are not reflective of that group’s population of the United States.
As part of our commitment to diversity, we seek to attract residents who will make the population of physicians more representative of the general population. We are committed to the full and meaningful including of individuals with disabilities in residency education.
Our town leaders are dedicated to ensuring that Chapel Hill remains a wonderful place to live, work and learn. Our University and its leadership will make certain that our campus community will continue to be one that embraces all. UNC Medicine-Pediatrics is committed to recruit diverse residents to our training program, and we respect and appreciate the uniqueness each individual brings to our residency family.
