The purpose of this requirement is to equip residents with the skills necessary to research a specific topic, to organize the latest data on this subject and to present this information to ones colleagues. Faculty members welcome you to consider participating in research under their mentorship during your residency training.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1985, the intellectual highlight of the Department of Pediatrics has been the annual Day of Scholarship. This idea was conceived by Dr. Boat, a former Chair of the Department, as a venue in which pediatric residents and fellows could present the results of their work to peers and faculty members. The goal of the evening is to encourage each of our learners to engage in some sort of scholarly activity beyond their usual ward and clinic assignments. Such activities might range from a case report and review of the literature about some disease to a sophisticated laboratory or epidemiologic study.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a class=\"\" title=\"\" href=\"\/pediatrics\/files\/2018\/08\/2017EOSBooklet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2017 Day of Scholarship Abstract Booklet<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/pediatrics\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1116\/2019\/06\/2018-DOS-Booklet.pdf\">2018 Day of Scholarship Abstract Booklet<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/pediatrics\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1116\/2019\/06\/2019-DOS-Booklet.pdf\">2019 Day of Scholarship Abstract Booklet<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to our Day of Scholarship, our residents present at local, regional and national conferences.
